Be Still and Know

Have you ever stopped and wondered, “What am I doing?” I believe it is a question that we do not ask ourselves enough. Let’s be honest, do we really stop our lives and listen to God? I really started thinking about this during a recent series our Church is going through. In this series we are going over the Ten Commandments and this concept really hit me hard during the sermon about the Sabbath. I’m not so legalistic and believe that you cannot do anything on the Sabbath but Church however, I do believe that we need to commit time to our Lord and Savior every week if we plan on making am impact in our lives and our communities.
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Easier said than done, right? I found myself trying to find “time” to spend “time” with the One who created “time” and all I found was no “time”. The bottom line is that we need to create “time.” I have developed three practical ways that will help you spend “time” with God:
1. Wake up early - this one is hard for me to live by because I work late into the night and I want to savor every minute I have in bed but I found that this is the most productive time that I have with the Lord.
2. Eliminate a TV show - this is one that is hard for my wife but I made a deal with her, if I get up early she has to cut out a TV show and spend that time with God.
3. Daily scripture emails - this is a great one for me because I have email all around me and the site that I use sends out an email early enough that I can wake up and read a scripture directly from my cell phone. CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE
