Do not move an ancient boundary stone

As I take look at the Christian landscape it is evident that we are loosing a generation of young people.   Many people do not want to believe that we are loosing a whole generation for Christ. There are many reason people offer as to why we are loosing this generation but is clear why we are losing this battle.   We, as adults, the church, parents and leaders are not doing our jobs.  We have moved the spiritual boundaries of our faith.  How do I know this?

  • In America, 3500 — 4000 churches close their doors each year. (from the Barna Study — www.barna.org)
  • Churches lose an estimated 2,765,000 people each year to secularism. (from the Barna Study — www.barna.org)
  • Only 21% of Americans attend religious services every week.

  • Those who do not attend church are: (from the Barna Study — www.barna.org)
    • more likely to feel stressed out
    • less optimistic
    • much less likely to believe they are making a positive difference in the world
    • less likely to be concerned about the moral condition of the nation

Scripture Proverbs 23:10-12
Do not move an ancient boundary stone or encroach on the fields of the fatherless,  for their Defender is strong; he will take up their case against you.  Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.

We need to be AWARE: of the spiritual boundary stones that we have abandoned
We need to be PREPARED: to restore our spiritual boundary stones
We need to be WILLING: to oppose those who want to move our spiritual boundary stones
