What I Learned at Camp!

I recently had the opportunity to speak at a camp in Missouri and here is what I learned.

1.  Outdoor tabernacles still exist and they are HOT!!
2. Toilet seats can break just by sitting on them. (ask and i will explain)
3. Students today want to be challenged with the Word.
4. God can work despite your defects.
5. You can learn a lot about life and God from an afternoon swim at the pool.
6. I Love spending time with my family.
7. 100 degrees without a breeze really means 110.
8. Coffee is still good in extreme heat.
9. My wife is the best!
10. There is such a thing as a Happy, Gospel-Preaching Calvinist (in other words not all Calvinist are angry)!!

Haha, this is a great post; I really like the idea of making a list like this of what I learned at camp… I just might do that. :^) I am thankful that the Lord chose to have you there at camp this year.

It’s kind of funny, and unfortunate, but at the same time I’m sure it was all in God’s plan; I rarely had the chance to hear you speak in the evenings – God was moving in those students from the very first day and I had the privilege to be out at the edges of the tabernacle praying with one or two girls nearly every night. Your #4 was reaffirmed to me that week at camp too; before I went, I felt very unprepared and inadequate.

“And He said unto me, ‘My grace is sufficient for thee, for my grace is made perfect in weakness.’ More gladly therefore will I rejoice in my infirmities, that the power of God might rest upon me.” II Cor. 12:9

Yikes! Well, my first thought was, “Hmmm, what would I think of this sign if I was a sinner” then I thought, “wait a minute! I AM A SINNER!” It seems to me that they think they are not sinners if they go to church; I’d feel like I couldn’t be a part of the church even if I wanted to because, though I am forgiven by a great and merciful Saviour, I still sin daily. (Though I wouldn’t mind learning their secret to staying ‘sinless’! haha)
